Following up the petroleum industry’s work with digital technology and ICT security is a priority area at PSA. A key target for this supervision in 2019 will be helping the sector to improve safety and the working environment.

A report from Norway’s Auditor General criticises several aspects of the way health, safety and the environment (HSE) in the Norwegian oil and gas industry is followed up by the PSA.

The PSA has prepared a document about barrier management to provide information on how we define the requirements in the regulations and guideline texts in relation to the contents of relevant standards.

In April/May 2018, we held a series of meetings with the contractors Weatherford, Schlumberger, Enhanced Drilling and Halliburton, which supply managed pressure drilling services on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

During 2015 and 2016, the Health and Safety Working Group of the North Sea Offshore Authorities Forum, chaired by Petroleum Safety Authority Norway, met to discuss common challenges for the oil and gas industry in their respective countries.
