The audit was conducted over Microsoft Teams on 13 and 14 April 2021.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to ensure that RNAS complies with the regulations and its own internal requirements in respect of the permanent plugging and abandonment of the Gyda wells, including processes to safeguard the working environment, ensure that risk in the planning and implementation phase has been adequately identified and that established well barriers have been verified in terms of positioning, length and soundness.

Result

One non-conformity was identified concerning deficient verification of certain well barrier elements.

In addition, two improvement points were identified concerning:

  • Follow-up of qualification of new technology and new methods
  • Management of chemical health risks

What happens now?

We have asked Repsol to report on how the non-conformity will be addressed. We have also asked the company for their assessment of the improvement points. The reply deadline is set at 1 September 2021.
