The audit was carried out between 21 and 24 September 2021.

The objective of the audit was to verify that Island Offshore's management of the working environment complied with the regulatory requirements, as well as to follow up non-conformities from a previous working environment audit. The audit focused on the following topics:

  • Individual and combined risks for different groups on board Island Constructor
  • Mapping of the working environment on the facility, both area and exposure mappings, as well as the psychosocial and organisational working environment
  • Prioritisation and follow-up of measures
  • Roles and responsibilities within the working environment both in the onshore organisation and on board
  • System for safeguarding capacity and competence within the working environment
  • Non-conformity management of conditions within the working environment
  • Employee participation on board
  • Continuous improvement and follow-up of findings from previous audits of the company and Island Wellserver within the working environment

We identified a total of seven non-conformities and one improvement point in the audit.

The non-conformities included

  • Management of the working environment
  • Competence, roles and responsibilities within the working environment
  • Noise
  • Chemical health hazards
  • Lighting
  • Ergonomic arrangements
  • Working environment committee (AMU)

The improvement point concerned

  • The psychosocial working environment

Follow-up of previous audit

We also investigated how Island Offshore has addressed five previously identified non-conformities following an audit of the Island Wellserver facility.

The following non-conformities had not been addressed in line with the company's feedback to us:

  • Non-conformity concerning deficient maintenance of AoC within the working environment.
  • Non-conformity concerning management of the working environment
  • Non-conformity concerning competence
  • Non-conformity concerning deficient mapping and risk assessment of the working environment for contractors/third parties on board
  • Non-conformity concerning the working environment committee (AMU)

What happens now?

We have asked Iceland Offshore to report to us on how the non-conformities will be addressed. We have also requested the company’s assessment of the improvement point observed. The reply deadline is set at 1 February 2022.
