Background

Hywind Tampen is the first large offshore wind power development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. It will generate electrical power for use on the Snorre and Gullfaks fields, and is scheduled to commence production in 2022.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify that fabrication of the substructures for Hywind Tampen is being carried out in compliance with the HSE regulations, so as to achieve a prudent HSE level.

Result

No regulatory non-conformities were identified during the audit.

Four improvement points were identified in connection with:

  • Documentation of dimensioning collision energy
  • DFU 5C has not been updated in accordance with current design assumptions
  • Deficiencies in learning after incident entailing temporary halt in casting work
  • Outstanding reporting of concrete quality

What happens now?

We have asked Equinor for their assessment of the improvement points observed. The reply deadline is set at 14 May 2021.
