Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify that Maersk’s management of working environment risk and employee participation on Mærsk Invincible complied with the regulatory requirements.

In the audit, we focused on working environment risk for groups at risk of chemical and noise exposure, factors that contributed to increased risk of musculoskeletal disorders and the psychosocial working environment.

The working environment conditions for personnel who worked in areas in which cuttings and mud were handled and catering personnel were given special emphasis. We also followed up on previous findings from audits of the company.

Result

We identified four non-conformities relating to:

  • The psychosocial working environment
  • The safety service
  • The design of areas for handling drilling mud and cuttings
  • Chemical exposure

We also identified one improvement point relating to ergonomic risk assessment.

What happens now?

We have asked Maersk Drilling to report on how the non-conformities will be addressed. We have also asked the company for their assessment of the improvement point we observed. The reply deadline is set at 28 February 2020.
