Seadrill has applied for an Acknowledgement of Compliance for the West Bollsta mobile drilling facility.

In connection with an AoC application, the PSA conducts audits within selected specialist domains.

From 17 to 19 February 2020, we carried out an audit of Seadrill’s management of logistics on West Bollsta. During the audit, the facility was in the process of being prepared for operation on the NCS.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify the technical condition and relevant documents in the management system in order to monitor compliance with the petroleum regulations.

Result

Three non-conformities were identified relating to:

  • Offshore cranes – the crane operator’s view of loading areas
  • Certification of lifting equipment in the drilling area
  • Communication
  • Unclarified aspects of logistics

No improvement points were identified.

What happens now?

We have asked Seadrill to report on how the non-conformities will be addressed. The deadline for replying is set at 17 April 2020.

Before we issue an AoC, the company must have corrected all known safety-critical non-conformities, and the facility must have been issued with maritime certificates from the appropriate flag state.
