The audit was carried out on 7 and 8 October 2019.

The objective of the audit was to document that necessary measures were established to allow permanent plugging of the wells to be conducted safely and properly. The audit also looked at how Repsol ensured that established barriers in the wells complied with the regulations in respect of positioning, length and soundness.

One non-conformity was identified during the audit, relating to deficiencies in internal non-conformity processing.

In addition, one improvement point was identified, relating to insufficient establishment of minimum competence and training requirements for personnel tasked with ensuring adequate verification of barrier elements in connection with the permanent plugging of wells.

What happens next?

Repsol has been given a deadline of 17 January 2020 to report on how the non-conformity and improvement point will be addressed.
