Objective

The objective of the audit was to assess whether, in the conversion of Njord B, Equinor is fulfilling the regulatory design requirements in respect of the working environment and materials handling. There was also an objective of assessing the degree to which the company is taking advantage of the opportunities for improvement while the facility is being upgraded and following up measures and improvements presented in the audit earlier this year.

Result

Two non-conformities were identified relating to:

  • Design of shaft for materials handling
  • Hatches not operable in a safe manner

In addition, three improvement points were identified relating to:

  • Transport routes not prudently designed
  • Crane boom and work on rereeving the crane from hook to large block
  • Noise and benzene exposure in the VOC facility

What happens next?

Equinor has been given a deadline of 24 January 2020 to report on how the non-conformities and improvement points will be addressed.
