The audit was conducted from 27 November to 5 December 2018.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to assess how Equinor is ensuring compliance with the authorities’ and its own requirements relating to materials handling and emergency preparedness at Gudrun.

We wanted to monitor that Equinor is working systematically to prevent major accidents.

Result

Our main impression from the audit was good. However, we identified four non-conformities and three improvement points.

The non-conformities related to maintenance and controls of lifting equipment performed by an enterprise of competence, loose lifting equipment, cargo deck and pre-use and after-use checks of offshore cranes as part of the emergency response plan.

The improvement points concerned roles and responsibilities relating to logistics specialists, lifting operations and the emergency preparedness organisation’s robustness.

What happens next?

We have asked Equinor to report on how they intend to address the non-conformities we have identified. We have also asked the company for its assessment of the improvement points we observed.

The deadline for the feedback is set at 19 March 2019.
