Total E&P Norge AS is the operator on the Martin Linge field, which is in the northern North Sea, around 42 km west of Oseberg.

The field will be developed using an integrated fixed production facility and a mobile facility for storage and transport. Production on the field is scheduled to start in 2016. The facility is being designed by the French company, Technip.

Objective

The PSA has carried out an audit of Total's engineering of the production facility in respect of its compliance with the technical and operational barrier requirements. The audit was conducted at Total's offices in Stavanger and at Technip in Paris on 24 and 25 September 2014.

Result

The audit identified one non-conformity associated with the depressurisation of pressure tanks in the case of fire.

In addition, two improvement points were identified concerning clarity and consistency in governing documentation and facility-specific performance requirements.

Non-conformity:

Entails that a condition is assessed as not complying with a regulatory requirement.

Improvement point:

Entails that we have identified a deficiency or weakness, without there being sufficient grounds for determining a breach of regulatory requirements.
