§ 22 Outdoor work areas

Outdoor work areas shall have sufficient weather protection so that the risk of health problems and mistakes is reduced.
Weather protection in outdoor areas shall be adapted to the expected periods of stay, the scope and character of the work, representative weather conditions and risk factors.

In order to fulfil the requirement relating to weather protection as mentioned in the first subsection, the NORSOK S-002 standard Chapter 7.9 and A.8 in Annex A should be used.
Risks as mentioned in the second subsection, may include accumulation of flammable gases, risk of increased explosion pressure and potential reduced access for firefighting.
With regard to new constructions and modifications, weather protection requirements should be specified at an early stage.
