The key arenas for international collaboration between regulatory authorities on health, safety and the environment in the petroleum sector are presented here.
Other international collaboration organisations
- The Offshore Mechanical Handling Equipment Committee (OMHEC)
Regulators from countries around the North Sea collaborate here on improving safety in crane and lifting operations.
- The European Diving Technology Committee (EDTC)
Developing common parameters for the competence to be provided in the education/training of divers are among the activities pursued by the EDTC.
Through bilateral cooperation with other continental shelf authorities in northern Europe, we help to respond at a technical level to internationalisation in the petroleum sector. That includes the exchange of knowledge and experience.
Bilateral cooperation agreements have been established in relation to fields and pipelines which straddle continental shelf boundaries, for example.
These agreements regulate cooperation on supervising operating companies, fields and facilities, as well as on exchanging safety information.
Bilateral cooperation agreements have also been established in specific technical areas, such as the working environment.
We also cooperate with Russia on the special challenges faced in developing oil and gas activities in the far north.
