From 1st of January 2007 the data base will be closed for new registrations and it will not be possible to order loan or copies from the NPD/PSA library. Hopefully many documents will be available from other libraries.
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) and The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) are responsible for the production and publication of the bibliographic database OIL covering petroleum literature of Nordic origin.
Searching the database is free of charge. The data base OIL is available for searching at the following address: www.ptil.no/oil
References are taken from a wide variety of publications: research reports, government publications, journal articles, books, conference papers, standards and specifications, newspapers and articles. Many entries now also include links to the full text documents.
The following subjects are covered:
Petroleum geology, geophysics, exploration, exploitation and production of oil and gas, offshore structures, pipelines, transportation, supply services, petroleum economy, petroleum law and policy, safety and control, environmental and social impact of petroleum activities.
Approximately 25 per cent of the 2000 articles indexed each year are in English. Each reference has keywords in both Norwegian and English.
