The new site includes links to guidance documents which the industry can use.
The PSA helps to meet the internationalisation of the petroleum sector in a number of areas through bilateral cooperation with other north European regulators.
That includes active participation in the OMHEC together with government agencies in other North Sea nations to improve the safety of crane and lifting operations.
This work has had high priority in the PSA, not least because all six fatal accidents suffered since 1994 within its offshore jurisdiction have related to lifting work.
The OMHEC collaboration has permitted the effective development of guidance documents for use by the industry.
Norway's Norsok offshore standards have incorporated references to the documents on the qualifications of crane drivers and signallers (banksmen), and of expert assessors.
The OMHEC formalised a collaboration with the North Sea Offshore Authorities Forum (NSOAF) in 2006, whereby the latter uses the committee as its expert resource on issues relating to crane and lifting operations in the petroleum activity.
The OMHEC resolved to establish a separate website to highlight and promote the results achieved by the collaboration project, and the PSA undertook to carry out the necessary development work on behalf of the committee.
In addition to information about the committee and its work, the www.omhec.org site contains links to contact persons in each member country as well as to downloadable guidance documents.
