Consent to use Oseberg Field Centre low pressure oil production

23.02.2010 | Consent: Statoil Petroleum AS has received consent to use Oseberg Field Centre LPOP (Low pressure oil production).

The consent relates to start-up and operation of new equipment in connection with low pressure oil production. The project has comprised work such as rebundling of compressors, upstream coolers, fluid separators , piping, manifolds and instrumentation.

The equipment was partially prefabricated on land and is now connected to existing equipment on Oseberg A and B.

Planned start-up is in February 2010.

According to Statoil, the modification will result in

  • Higher recovery rate from wells with low reservoir pressure
  • Accelerated production from wells with low reservoir pressure
  • Improved robustness in relation to reservoir uncertainty

The following main activities have been carried out:

  • Clearing and preparing construction sites offshore
  • Building/rebundling new compressors
  • Offloading and transport of new equipment and piping
  • Lifting of new equipment such as coolers, scrubbers and manifolds
  • Connection work and commissioning
  • Start-up (to be done after consent is granted)
