Information on the European Diving Technology Committee (EDTC)

05.05.2004 | The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway participates in the European Diving Technology Committee (EDTC), where more than 15 European countries take part in the work on harmonizing standards and improving safety in diving operations. Each nation may participate with up to four representatives; one from the authorities, one from the labor unions, one from industry and one from the medical community.

EDTC has prepared a number of documents that are used as a basis for national requirements, including:

  • Principles for diving operations
  • Diving industry personnel competence standards (prepared in cooperation with the International Marine Contractors Association, IMCA)
  • Competence requirements for doctors who work with diving and hyperbaric medicine
  • Recommended norm for health requirements for diving personnel
  • List of national regulations for diving operations
  • List of members of EDTC

The documents can be downloaded from the organization's web site: WWW.EDTC.ORG
