Glitne is an abandoned oil field in blocks 15/5 and 15/6 in the North Sea, approx. 40 km north-west of Sleipner Øst. As the operator of the field, Statoil is planning to plug seven of the field's wells by 2016.
Two of the wells are to be plugged in 2013 using the Borgland Dolphin mobile drilling facility. Statoil estimates spending 30 days on each well.
Water depth at the site is 111 metres.
Borgland Dolphin (photo) is a semi-submersible moored drilling facility of the Aker H-3 type. It was built at the Harland & Wolff yard in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was upgraded in 1998/99. The facility is owned by Borgland Dolphin Pte Ltd and operated by Dolphin Drilling A/S. It is registered in Singapore and classified by DnV.
Borgland Dolphin was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AOC) by the PSA in September 2004.
