Wintershall took over operatorship of the Brage field from Statoil on 1 October 2013.
A change of operator entails an application for consent to use the facilities. This is because consent is an expression of the PSA's confidence that the operating company is able to assume responsibility for operations in a proper manner and in compliance with the regulations; it is primarily based on our assessment of relevant aspects of the company's management system.
The PSA gave its consent to Wintershall's use of the facilities on the Brage field on 26 September 2013.
The Brage oil field is situated east of the Oseberg field, in the northern part of the North Sea. The field has been developed using a fixed, steel-jacket, integrated production, drilling and accommodation facility.
Brage was proven in 1980 and started production in 1993.
