Gjøa is an oil and gas field located in blocks 35/9 and 36/7, about 45 km west of the mouth of the Sognefjord. The water depth in the area is between 360 and 380 metres.
The field is developed with seabed templates tied in to the Gjøa SEMI semi-submersible production facility (pictured above).
The facility will receive its power supply from land.
The consent applies to use of the Gjøa SEMI with appurtenant facilities on the Gjøa field.
Statoil is the operator of the field during the development phase, while operatorship will be transferred to GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS when the field comes on stream. The other licensees are A/S Norske Shell, Petoro AS and RWE Dea Norge AS.
