The purpose of the drilling activity is to assess the production properties of the formation. The drilling location is approximately 175 km west-southwest off the coast of Karmøy in Rogaland. The well's coordinates are:
Water depth at the site is 112 metres.
The drilling activity will start at the end of July and has a planned duration of 40 days. Depending on the result, a production test and possible sidetrack drilling will be carried out, and so the overall activities can take up to 65 days.
The drilling will be carried out with the mobile facility Transocean Winner (pictured), which is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the GVA-4000 design, built in 1983 at Gøtaverken Arendal in Gothenburg in Sweden.
The facility is owned by Transocean Offshore, and operated by Transocean Offshore (North Sea) Ltd, with headquarters in Stavanger.
Transocean Winner received the PSA's Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in August 2006.
Lundin is the operator of production licence 338 with an ownership interest of 50 per cent. The other licensees are Wintershall Norge ASA with 30per cent and RWE-Dea Norge AS with 20 per cent.
