Consent for use of Askeladden

We have given Statoil consent to use the Askeladden mobile facility for drilling activities on the Gullfaks Sør field (Gullfaks satellites).

Statoil has received consent to use the Askeladden mobile drilling facility for well activities on the Gullfaks Sør field (Gullfaks satellites).

Gullfaks satellites is an umbrella term for the subsea developments at Gullfaks Sør.

Gullfaks Sør is an oil and gas field in the northern North Sea, located south of the Gullfaks field. The field comprises the Gullfaks Sør, Gullveig, Rimfaks, Rimfaksdalen and Skinfaks deposits, and has been developed using a total of 13 subsea well templates that are tied back to the Gullfaks A and Gullfaks C facilities.

Production began in 1998. Water depth in the area is 130-220 metres.

The consent now granted covers drilling, sidetrack drilling, completion, recompletion, plugging and well interventions at Gullfaks Sør.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in October/November 2017. The consent applies until November 2025.

Askeladden is a jack-up drilling facility of the Cat J type. It is owned by production licence 050 (Gullfaks), for which Statoil is the operator. The operating contractor for the facilities is KCA Deutag Drilling Norge.

Askeladden was built by Samsung in South Korea in 2017, is registered in Norway and classified by DNV GL. Askeladden was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in October 2017.
