Audit of Åsgard B

We have carried out an audit of how Statoil is following up load-bearing structures and maritime systems on the Åsgard B facility.

Statoil is the operator of Åsgard, an oil and gas field at Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea, around 200 kilometres from the Trøndelag coast. The field has been developed using the two mobile production facilities Åsgard A and B, along with the storage facility Åsgard C.

Production from Åsgard A began in 1999, while Åsgard B and C came on stream in 2000.

With this audit, we wanted to see how Statoil is maintaining the integrity of load-bearing structures and maritime systems in the facility's operational phase. The aim was to investigate whether the scope of inspections, methods and assessment of results complied with the regulatory requirements.

No regulatory non-conformities were identified during the audit.

However, improvement points were detected relating to:

  • Analyses of the consequences of waves hitting the deck
  • Traceability of history from design phase to operational phase

We have asked Statoil to report on how these improvement points will be assessed by 15 April 2017.
